Guiyang - Liuguan Village (100km, about 1.5 hours driving) - Guiyang
Today's program highlights the remaining culture of the old Han (Chinese) ethnic group. The ancestors of these villagers migrated from Jiangxi Province to Guizhou Province in the Ming Dynasty. We will drive for 1.5 hours to reach Liuguan Village. Women here are still dressed in traditional Ming dynasty costumes, and houses remain faithful to the Ming architectural styles. The ancient stone house, lots of legend story, warm-hearted people, and their lovely smile will leave you an unforgettable experience. After lunch at the village, we will watch a local Ground Opera performance, famed for the performers' symbolic masks, the opera in Liuguan dates to 1382, during the Ming Dynasty. It is said as one of the oldest operas of the world, which is still surviving. Later we will take the afternoon to walk around and explore nearby old Han villages. We will drive back to Guiyang this afternoon.

Guiyang—Xiaba (100km, about 1.5 hours driving) —Guiyang
We will leave Guiyang to explore villages around Xiaba. We'll spend the morning hiking through the Damochong Valley, an area of quaint villages, dense bamboo groves, and clear streams. We'll stop along the way and learn about the art of traditional paper-making. Explore Dazhai Village, an enchanting maze of old wooden houses amongst green paddy fields.
After our picnic lunch on a meadow, we'll take a 3 hours hike through this area of quaint mountain villages and reach Yandi White Miao Village. We will drive back to Guiyang in the afternoon.

Guiyang—Kaili (220km, about 2.5 hours driving)
This morning, we will drive 2.5 hours along the scenic mountain roads to Kaili, capital city of southeast Guizhou. We pay a visit to Ethnic Museum to get a general idea about southeast Guizhou. After lunch, we will drive 1 hour to visit village around Chong’an, a quiet village inhabited by the Gejia minority, where we will learn about their culture, of which very little is known. The Gejia although classified as Miao are in fact a separate group. Their founder is General Da Sa, probably of Manchu descent. Today’s recommendation for dinner will be Miao specialty, “Sour-Soup-fish”.

A short drive from Kaili along the Bala River will take us to Jiaogao Village, from here you can hike 2.5 hours along the crystal clear stream to Wugao Miao Village which is inhabited by Long-skirt Miao people, we will spend some time here to visit local Miao families and school. Lunch is a communal with local villagers. Afterwards, we will drive to Maliao or Kongbai village, which is known for their silver making. Return to Kaili in the late afternoon.

Drive 2.5 hours back to Guiyang airport and catch your connecting flights. Or you could extend your Guizhou Discovery from Kaili to Rongjiang County, even to Guangxi Province to see the most amazing karst landscape in Guilin and Yangshuo.
