Hotan Overview

Hotan (also named Khotan in old times or Hetian in Chinese Pinyin), located in the southwest of Xinjiang in Northwest China which is cover the area 381,900 square kilometers. At the south reaching the Kunlun Mountain and the north facing  Taklimakan Desert. The west part connect Kashgar and the east is Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture. Hotan also known as Hotan which in Hotanese means the origin of jade. And Hotan is famous for its exquisite, pure white and flawless jade. Hotan city is 1983 km away from the provincial city of “Uygur - Urumchi. And the highway which cross the desert is only 1500 km. Hotan plays an important part of ancient Chinese Western history. Especially is a important stage of ancient Silk road. And its famous for its developed husbandry and sericulture 2000 years before. With thousand years’development and evolution, it accumulated unique oasis minority romantic feelings and historic figures and cultural heritages. Although is far, but mysterious. With various of scenic spots and historic sites and advantageous geographic location, Hotan became a place which interested all over the world.
