Dragon Pavilion Travel Guide

Dragon Pavilion at southeast part of Kaifeng, Henan Province is a well-known scenic area and historical place of interest.Strictly speaking, the Dragon Pavilion at Kaifeng is the former imperial palace in Song Dynasty (960-1279A.D.). In front of the palace, are 72 stairs and a huge stone on which caved with nine dragons, there are fences made of stone surrounding the hall.The Dragon Pavilion is a palatial hall built on a thirteen-meters-high marble terrace. During the Song and Jin dynasties, this was the site of imperial palaces. Inside the pavilion enshrined the emperor¡¯s tablets. Two dragons playing with a pearl are carved on a plaque on the pavilion, hence the name ¡°Dragon Pavilion¡±. It became an important place for local and official ceremonies and festivities.
