Pingyao Ancient City Wall Travel Guide

Pingyao Ancient City Wall is the best well protected ancient county city Wall in China, the existing wall was built since 1370 AD. 
The city wall is square, with a perimeter of 6163 meters. The wall is 8-10 meters high, 8-12 meters thick at the bottom, 3-6 meters thick at the top. The wall body was rammed with soil, layered with straw tie; the outer wall was covered with white lime; the top was plastered with bricks. There are 6 city gates, two for east wall and west wall, one for north wall and south wall; one barbakan entrance to a gate; also, 4 corner tower as turret.
