Wuyuan Travel Guide

Wuyuan County lies in the northeastern part of Jiangxi Province, and that south of Shangrao, 80 kilometers west of Jingdezhen and 120 kilometers north of Huangshan. It is a green pearl on the Huangshan – Wuyuan – Jingdezhen – Lushan golden tourist route and acclaimed by many media at home and abroad as “the most beautiful rural area in China”.

Jiangwan
It is a national AAAA tourist zone in China. The area has given birth to Jiangyilin, a high court minister in the Ming Dynasty, Jiang Yong, a great master of Confucian studies in the Qing Dynasty, Jiang Qian, a famous educator and Buddhist scholar between the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The Jiangwan Ancestral Temple, an ancient mansion with sic courtyards, the Sansheng Hall, Dunchong Hall and the Peixin Hall testify to the rich cultural connotation in Jiangwan.

Lingyan Cave
It is well known for its magnificence and deep seclusion and the 2,000 + inscriptions written by prominent scholars through the history. It is famous scenic zone in Jiangxi Province.

Rainbow Bridges
The two bridges were built in the Song Dynasty. They deprived their name from a poem of the Tang Dynasty which reads: Two rivers flank a bright mirror; a rainbow hangs over two bridges. It is a key historical site under the protection of Jiangxi Province.

Likeng
Liyuan, the original name of Likeng, is located in Tuochuan Township in Wuyuan County. It came into being toward the end of the Northern Song Dynasty. The villagers have a special fond of reading. In the past several hundred years the remote mountain village has produced many famous scholars and imperial court officials. Among them 36 held the official ranks higher than the 7th grade; 16 has passed the national imperial examinations for civil service and 92 were prominent scholars. Many houses built during the Ming and Qing dynasties have been preserved in the village. The village can be called an expo park of ancient Chinese architectural art.

Mandarin Duck Lake
It is the largest habitat of wild mandarin ducks in Asia with a water surface of nearly 160 hectares. The lake is surrounded by lush woods and the lake water is as clear as emerald jade. In winter more than 2,000 pairs of wild mandarin ducks make the lake their home. News media call it a “marvelous ecological sight”.

Wengong Mountain
The original name of the mountain was “Jiulao Furong”. It was renamed “Wengong” because the ancestral tomb of Zhuxi, style-named Wengong. Zhuxi (1130-1200) was a great thinker of the South Song Dynasty. Sixteen of the cypress trees Zhuxi planted have left on the mountain. Wengong Mountain is a famous scenic and historic interest zone in Jiangxi Province.
